Meeting at Potsdam Charles Mee
Price $5.00 Item # mp-183

Meeting at Potsdam by Charles L. Mee Jr. (1975) is a historical account of the 1945 Potsdam Conference, detailing the negotiations between Truman, Churchill (later Attlee), and Stalin as World War II ended. The book argues that national self-interest and the beginnings of the Cold War led to the sacrifice of peace, with Mee presenting a controversial view that the atomic bombs were used partly to preempt a Soviet-brokered Japanese surrender, not solely to avoid invasion casualties. It uses conference transcripts and eyewitness accounts to reconstruct the diplomatic maneuvering and the seeds of future conflict. E-mail Wayne H. Techet

The Nazis put a remarkable amount of effort into anti-Semitic propaganda, intending to bring ordinary Germans around to the destructive ideology of the Nazi party. Julius Streicher (1885-1946) spearheaded many of these efforts, publishing anti-Semitic articles and cartoons in his weekly newspaper, Der Stürmer, the most widely read paper in the Third Reich. Streicher won the close personal friendship of Hitler and Himmler, and drew deserved attacks from the world press. Bytwerk's biography examines Streicher's use of propaganda techniques, and the hate literature towards Jews that continued to appear after his death, bearing his influence.

Denying the Holocaust
(very rare) Deborah Lipstadt
Price $15.00
Item # dh-713
E-mail Wayne H. Techet
The denial of the Holocaust has no more credibility than the assertion that the earth is flat. Yet there are those who insist that the death of six million Jews in Nazi concentration camps is nothing but a hoax perpetrated by a powerful Zionist conspiracy. Such notions used to be the province of pseudohistorians who argued that Hitler never meant to kill the Jews, and that only a few hundred thousand died in the camps from disease; they also argued that the Allied bombings of Dresden and other cities were worse than any Nazi offense, and that the Germans were the "true victims" of World War II. For years, those who made such claims were dismissed as harmless cranks operating on the lunatic fringe. But now, in the first full-scale history of Holocaust denial, Deborah Lipstadt shows how—despite living witnesses and vast amounts of documentary evidence—this irrational idea not only has continued to gain adherents but has become an international movement, with organized chapters, “independent” research centers, and official publications that promote a “revisionist” view of recent history. Lipstadt shows how Holocaust denial thrives in the current atmosphere of value relativism, and argues that this chilling attack on the factual record not only threatens Jews but undermines the very tenets of objective scholarship that support our faith in historical knowledge.

By: Charles Marshall
Price $25.00
Item # drm-143
Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's heroic opposition to Hitler in 1944 cost him his life. In this intriguing, well-paced tale of a journalistic coup, Marshall, the first to discover the real events behind Rommel's death, tells how he learned the facts from Rommel's widow and delves into the great general's background and death. He arrived at his conclusions based on his intimate knowledge of men on Rommel's staff and his access to Rommel's papers, including letters from the general to his wife. The Rise of The Dictators 1919-1939
by Peter Banyard
Price $15.00
Item # rd-191-1939
The rise of dictators between 1919 and 1939 was driven by post-WWI devastation, the Treaty of Versailles' humiliation of Germany, and economic ruin from the Great Depression. Totalitarian leaders like Mussolini (Italy, 1922), Stalin (USSR, 1924), Hitler (Germany, 1933), and Franco (Spain, 1939) exploited this despair to seize control.
