CARL EICKHORN
Carl Eickhorn Long – Pommel Etch
This long type (Enlistedman’s) dress bayonet is etched only on the Hilt with Carl Eickhorn’s closed winged Eagle Pommel etch.
Pommel etches have been reproduced after the war and the Pre-45 examples are very difficult to find in the collecting community. I personally have not seen a Pre-45 Pommel etch in many years until this example. See pictures. A chapter in my Revised/Updated Volume concerns Pommel etches and what to look for. Many advanced collections do not have a real pre-45 Pommel etch included in their collections.
A hard to find etch in Mint condition!
The condition of the bayonet is very respectable, no missing plating and very few light runner marks.

Short: Honor - Strength - Freedom Etched Dress Bayonet
J.A. HENKELS Trademarked
Obverse: Honor, Strength, Freedom
Reverse: Trademarked by J.A. Henkels. These etched dress bayonets were awarded to the graduates of the five Student League Schools located throughout Germany. The Carl Eickhorn Company usually contracted with the schools to supply these awards, however one contract was given to a J.A. Henkels salesman and consequently turned over to Carl Eickhorn to complete the order with the Henkels trademark shown on the reverse. See Pictures. For more information see my REVISED Volume on page 136. Just finding an Honor, Strength, Freedom by Carl Eickhorn is quite difficult to find in the collecting community, but finding one with a J.A. Henkels trademark should be considered Value Rated as Very Rare.
Condition: Mint Minus, all plating with a very bit of wear on the tip is present and like new. The tip wear does not interfere with the etching or any other part of the example. A great conditioned example of a VERY DIFFICULT etched bayonet to find. The bayonet is featured in the Wittmann & Wayne portion of the SOS 2022 video.

Short - Single Etch - Luftwaffe Gulls
Another most difficult etch to find is this Carl Eickhorn pattern depicting two Gulls flying away from the viewer surrounded by a Wreath associated with Carl Eickhorn patterns. See pictures.
Produced for Luftwaffe personal, this design is rated as RARE to find in my Original Volume AND Updated/Revised Volume.
I expressed the most commonly held opinion as to why this Gulls Etch is so hard to find, however since that time I have come to another conclusion that differs greatly from the one expressed at the time of publication. This possibility along with more "common sense" reasons can be found in my second Volume The Addendum.
The condition of this example is absolutely MINT. All plating is on the Blade and Hilt and the background frosting in the etch is perfect, looks brand new. There is even a yellow felt in the rifle slot, unusual for Eickhorn, but looks like it's always been there. Any collector would be pleased to have such a rare, hard to find example in their collection.

CARL JULIUS KREBS

F.W. HӧLLER
Short - Double Etched Dress Bayonet
This double etched dress bayonet was produced from an order from their Distributor Hans Prem in Amberg. The Distriburor's name is stamped on the reverse while the Holler Trademark is on the obverse. The obverse etch is Nr. ES 104 in Holler's 1938 catalog for all Wehrmacht troops.
The Reverse sites military service in Infer. Regt. 41 - Amberg/Bayer, Ostmark. See pictures. A beautiful Scarce example for sure. This double etched dress bayonet form FW Hӧller is the EXACT example as seen on the cover of my Revised Volume Edition now available. A “free” Edition with the new cover will be sent to the buyer.
Condition:
MINT throughout, no missing plating or "runner marks" to be seen..

Long - Single Etch - Holler 3 Scene
Generally the Holler 3 Scene pattern is most often found on the shorter NCO model and double etched examples with Battalion, Regiment or Unit designations.
This "Neutral" etch (for all Wehrmacht personnel) was FW Holler's most profitable image both in single and double etch blades.
The etch itself features a Machine Gun Crew ready for action, and Artillery Unit in the field "loading up" and a Panzer cresting a hill. All great action scenes.
This particular example is in magnificent Mint condition. All the plating is on the Hilt area and the blade shows no wear at all for almost being 100 years old. The full silver frosted background beings this beautiful etch to "life" Truly should belong in a Presentation Box!.
This is another of those dress bayonets that any collector would be proud to display.

Long - Single Etch - Small Closed Eagle
Although this example is not trademarked, the etch most certainly comes from the FW Holler Company. Holler was the only company to use this arrowhead bookend pattern.
All 5 producing companies had their own patterns. No matter what "experts" tell you, these companies did not lend, copy from. barrow, buy, or otherwise use templates from other producing companies. All had their own and were proud of them.
This particular example has Holler's small closed wing Eagle centered, with the Remembrance Motto split on both sides. See pictures.
While this etch is getting more difficult to find in the collecting community, the condition of this piece would certainly be rated as MINT MINUS.
Only a few age specks are present, however, all of the plating is present on the Hilt and Blade and the etch are beautiful for the collector to enjoy.

F.W. Holler Long - Single Etch - Small OPENED Winged Eagle
As with the small closed winged Eagle example on this menu, this piece is also not trademarked by Holler. Having no trademark was not unusual for FW Holler or Robt. Klaas to offer their clientele.
And we know positively this was FW Holler produced as the etch has the unique arrowhead bookends associated with this company. The smaller open winged Eagle with Swastika Wreath is centered with the Remembrance Motto split on each side of the Eagle image.
The condition of this example, in my opinion, would be Exc.+++. Most all of the plating is present and the etch is beautiful to appreciate on the blade. There are two small circular areas where plating is missing on the obverse (see pictures) however, the etch itself is all there and the balance of the blade is Mint. Hilt as all plating and red felt is in the rifle slot. There is a very, very small "wobble" in the ricasso/hilt area.
It is so minor, but in honesty, I will mention. FW Holler sold this exact etch to other companies including WKC for their retail.

Long - Single Etch - 88 Artillery Pattern
F.W. Holler was a major producer of etched dress bayonets who did not always trademark their bayonets perhaps due to customer request, lack of workers or savings in the production line.
This example is not trademarked but was definitely produced by Holler as defined by the "blunt end" bookends seen here. See pictures What makes this example relevant to EDB collectors is the 88 Artillery Gun featured in the right side of the etch.
In my new Revised/Updated Volume, I designated this overall etch as RARE to find in the collecting community. I couldn't even locate one for my original book. A special order of this etch can be found on page 200. Today it continues to be VERY RARE and hard to find. Many advanced collectors don't have this etched dress bayonet in their displays due to rarity.
The condition of this example is absolutely MINT in every way. All plating is present on Blade and Hilt and the etch itself is beautiful to look at and admire. I haven't seen an example of this etch in many years for purchase at any price.

E & F. HӧRSTER

E. Pack & Sӧhne
Short - Single Etch - Deco Style Open Winged Eagle
This beautiful open winged Eagle was Pack's "Neutral" image for all Wehrmacht personnel. While many were sold in the 30's and 40's I haven't seen many available in the last 3 or 4 years, indicating that collectors are reluctant to move these etches from their own collections.
this example is in absolutely beautiful Mint condition. Hilt has all plating and the blade shows no wear or runner marks.
if you might want just one etched example for your collection, this is it!
Impossible to upgrade.

P.S. This example is certainly worthy of a Presentation Box.
Short - Single Etch - OVAL - BLUE PANEL - Mobile Field Artillery
This example is truly a piece of E. Pack & Sohne etched bayonet history. The mobile field artillery (possibly Howitzer) etch is the LAST of E. Pack's menu of selections slated for around 1941 (or so). To my knowledge no Pack catalog exists with any of the oval selections available for sale, and ovals have not been found with any of Pack's distributor trademarks in the ricasso.
Adding to the value of this Very Rare to find example is the hand enhanced blue panel oval. Another feature found in this etch is a blue paneled Motto1 As a blue panel was labor intensive, this is the first hand enhancing of the Motto I have seen.
In order to bring this example to advanced collectors my final price was more than ANY etched dress bayonet I have ever had or offered for resale.
Impossible to upgrade.

G. GRAFRATH
Short - Single Etch Open Winged Eagle - Pre 1938
The retail firms of the Gebruder Grafrath were primarily outlets for hunting and pocket knives. They did however offer a limited variety of Third Reich daggers to include HJ Knives, SA daggers and dress bayonets.
We can suggest that these varieties came from Robt. Klaas as the etch on this dress bayonet was ONLY produced by the Klaas firm.
This etch was offered in the Grafrath stores prior to 1938 as determined by the "slant" edge used by Robt. Klaas at that time. After 1938 Robt. Klaas used the "potted plant" bookends as featured in the Revised and Updated Volume on page 209.
This "Neutral" ( for all Wehrmacht personnel) pre-38 pattern is quite hard to find and is not generally found in major collections.
For that matter, any etched bayonet with the G. Grafrath trademark is quite difficult to acquire.
The Condition of this example is absolutely perfect. Hilt has all plating, blade is also in Mint condition. See pictures. A truly collectable and rare example to have.
